Emergency preparedness training on campus

Session scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 8

The University of Delaware Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management will conduct a daylong active assailant training session Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the north end of main campus in Newark.

This full-scale active assailant training exercise will center around the Carpenter Sports Building. The exercise requires the closure of North College Avenue, from East Main Street to East Cleveland Avenue, and closures to the following buildings: Alumni Hall; Carpenter Sports Building; Elliott Hall; Jastak-Burgess Hall; Mechanical Hall; Old College Hall; Recitation Hall and Annex; and Taylor Hall.

Training-in-progress signage will be visible in the area, as will an enhanced police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) presence. Members of the University community should not be alarmed about the increased police activity in the area during the training.

Parking Lots 20 and 20C will be closed. The East side of Lot 19 (closest to Drip Café) will be closed. Gray permit holders may park on the other half of Lot 19.

Anyone with questions about the training exercise should call UD Police at 302-831-2222 or email [email protected].
